A deeply tragic incident has taken an unexpected turn today in Greater Noida. Meenakshi the sister-in-law of the late Nikki Bhati has come forward with startling new claims, accusing Nikki’s own father and brother of subjecting her to persistent dowry harassment.
Meenakshi, who married into the Gurjar family in 2016, says she endured continuous humiliation and physical abuse from Nikki’s father, brother Rohit Gurjar, and both Nikki and her sister Kanchan. According to her, her own father had already offered a Maruti Ciaz and 31 tola of gold for her marriage, only for the in-laws to demand an SUV. She alleged that life in that household was unbearable—she was barred from using a phone, suffered forced abortions, and lived in fear of assault and emotional torment.
These revelations come as investigators are already grappling with conflicting narratives. Nikki’s family maintains she was doused in flammable liquid and set on fire by her husband Vipin Bhati and his family over repeated dowry demands, which allegedly spiraled to ₹36 lakh along with luxury vehicles. Disturbing videos and her young son’s tearful testimony have brought nationwide attention to the case.
On the flip side, police are now re-evaluating Kanchan’s initial FIR, as fresh CCTV footage, hospital records, and video clips suggest alternate scenarios may be plausible.
Authorities, including the National Commission for Women (NCW), are urging a thorough, time-bound investigation to ensure justice not just for Nikki, but for everyone involved.
