Himachal Tragedy: 4 Pilgrims Dead, 25 Injured in Kangra Pickup Truck Accident

 A tragic road accident in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh claimed four lives and left 25 others injured on Friday, August 15, 2025. The victims were pilgrims from Punjab’s Moga district, returning from the famous Mata Chamunda Devi Temple when their pickup truck lost control and plunged into a deep gorge.

How the Accident Happened
The accident took place near Jadrangal, close to the Ikku Mor area on the Chamunda–Dharamshala road. According to police, the pickup carrying devotees veered off the road and fell into the gorge. The sudden fall caused massive damage to the vehicle, leaving several passengers trapped inside.


Victims Identified
The four people who died in the crash have been identified as:

  • Kiran (35)
  • Sukhjinder Singh (35)
  • Jagsir Singh (38)
  • Paramjit Kaur (35)

All were residents of Bhageke village in Punjab’s Moga district.


Rescue and Medical Aid
Local residents, police, and rescue teams rushed to the spot. The injured were immediately taken to Dr. Rajendra Prasad Government Medical College and Hospital in Tanda. Hospital officials confirmed that three critically injured passengers later died during treatment, while others are still recovering.


Police Investigation
A case has been registered, and the police are investigating the cause of the accident. Preliminary reports suggest that overspeeding or a possible mechanical failure could have led to the crash, but the exact reason is yet to be confirmed.


Community Shock and Condolences
The incident has left the local community in deep shock. Leaders and residents have expressed their condolences to the families of the deceased and called for better road safety measures on hilly routes to prevent such tragedies.
